SEND
Our Senco, Miss Kirstin Sutherland, works with children, parents, staff and other professionals such as speech therapists and educational psychologists, to make sure that the SEND children at TLAP always receive the best teaching that will allow them to overcome their specific barriers to learning.
We believe that all children should be given the support that they need so that they can fulfil their potential and become anything they can dream of! Some of our children with SEND need extra support and we provide this in many ways, some examples of how we do this are: pre and post teaching of new vocabulary or concepts, fine motor skill activities, additional reading or phonics sessions.
At TLAP, children’s wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. It is in our school DNA. With any support that we put in place for a child, we always ensure that their wellbeing remains a priority.
We hold monthly SEN parent coffee mornings on the last Friday of each month. We do this to give parents of children with SEND the opportunity to informally meet other parents. We are also inviting different organisations in to talk on a range of topics. In March 2023 GEMS, a local organisation that offers advice and services to families of children with autism and/or ADHD.
