SEND

We believe that all children should be given the support that they need so that they can fulfil their potential and become anything they can dream of! Some of our SEND children need extra support with this and we take pride in being able to offer outstanding practice to support them.

There is a lot of thought and planning that goes into meeting the needs of children with SEND. Take a look at our full documents to help you understand exactly what it is that we do here at TLAP.

Hi, I am Renice Miller, the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-Ordinator (SENDCo) at The Langley Academy Primary. It is my job to make sure that all children with Special Educational Needs have access to an inclusive education and a broad and balanced curriculum.

I work with the children, parents, school staff and other professionals such as speech therapists and educational psychologists, to make sure that the SEND children at TLAP are always receiving the best teaching that will allow them to overcome their specific barriers to learning.

At TLAP, children’s wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. It is in our school DNA. With any support that we put in place for a child, we will always ensure that their wellbeing remains a priority. Children have the right to be involved in the decision-making processes regarding their education: We ensure that this right is upheld at every possible opportunity.

How do The Langley Academy Primary SEND children feel about their SEND support?

When asked if he feels important at TLAP, a SEND child said, “I feel important with all the care”

When asked how adults support them at TLAP, a SEND child answered, “They help me with writing, maths and when I am sad, they look after me again until I feel happy”
