Year One and Two Highlights

This week the children have been scientists and have enjoyed investigating the properties of different materials. They particularly liked testing to see if a material was absorbent or waterproof. During free flow, some of the children chose to work as a team to build a large bridge outside. They searched for suitable materials in the playground and discovered that wood and plastic were the best materials for the job.

The children in Year 2 have started to learn their new text map this week, which is a biology about Mary Seacole. They found out that she was born in Jamaica. The children were curious about what Jamaica was like, so we asked Mrs Starkey, who has visited the island, to come and talk to the children about it and share her pictures.
