Year One and Two Highlights

This week, Year 1 have worked hard to use punctuation for speech in ‘talk for writing’ and have developed their expression when reading in character. In Maths we have been learning to measure and compare mass. The children have enjoyed listening to African music and learning about African musical instruments for Africa day.

This week Year 2 visited the MERL museum in Reading to complete their Arts Award. The children were given the opportunity to learn different sketching techniques by looking through a view finder to focus on a particular artefact. They then learnt how to collage and replicate a painting as a group. In the afternoon, they practised using oil pastels and used water colours to paint a flower of their choice from the museum's garden. The workshop was focused on the inspiring art work of Frank Jones.
