It has been another busy week in Year 5. In English, the children began to write out their own Greek inspired myths using their box ups from previous lessons. On Wednesday, the children enjoyed deepening their knowledge on The Windrush. They learnt that this year marked the 75th anniversary of the docking of the ship in Tilbury. Some of our children celebrated Caribbean culture by working with our chef to create an authentic dish. They also created a beautiful double page spread using their devices, all about the contributions of the Windrush generation.

This week in Year 6 we have been thinking about all of our memories at TLAP. We began planning and exploring our ideas for recount writing which we will put into our yearbook. We had discovery day on the Windrush, and this was also exciting. We tried foods from the Caribbean, explored facts about the Windrush, compared the UK in 1948 to the Caribbean in 1948 and researched information about the impact the Caribbean had on the UK. We worked sensibly in groups and presented our information to the class focusing on our speaking and listening skills.
