Year Five and Six Highlights

This week in Year 5, the children were introduced to poetry. Jemison class had a fantastic birthday celebrating their name’s sake. The children were amazed to find out all about Mae Jemison’s accomplishments and how she overcame obstacles. The children had a fantastic time when observing a science experiment, whereby a mini rocket was made and launched trough mixing vinegar and bicarbonate soda.

In writing, Year 6 have written a letter as Bilbo Baggins (from the hobbit) to the party leader – Thorin to thank him for everything he has done. For our reading, we have been fortunate to have the Pumpkin tent from the Story Museum where they have performed and acted out scenes from the Hobbit. In Free Flow we have finished our projects where we have baked, painted, designed, sewed and sung until we were all proud of the work.
