Year Five and Six Highlights

This week has been another exciting week at the Langley Academy Primary. In our English lessons we have started our new topic of playscripts by acting out scenes from a Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare. In science we have continued investigating states of matter, by testing the solubility of different substances.

On Friday, Year 6 were extremely excited to watch, learn from and participate in some science fun. The ‘mad scientist’ taught us about the ‘fire triangle’ of heat, oxygen and fuel. We also found out about the need for pressure in an explosion, using effervescent tablets in water. We’ve created some emotive informal letters and looked at the volume of cubes and cuboids. This week, we also welcomed parents back into school for parents’ conferences and our spring concert. Let’s hope these face to face events continue.
