Year 5 & 6: Investigation, Inspiration and Exploration
Back
This week in Year 5, we focused on developing our reading skills by making thoughtful predictions and exploring new vocabulary. In Maths, we multiplied fractions by integers and practised formal written methods for multiplication. In Science, we learned about solutions and carried out investigations to deepen our understanding. In History, we explored the reasons why the Vikings chose to settle in Britain.
The sun came out to welcome Year 6 back from the half-term break, setting the tone for a bright and busy week of learning. The children jumped straight into their new English topic on biographies, exploring key features and beginning to craft their own pieces about Marcus Rashford and his inspiring achievements. In Science, they completed their cold task on electricity and circuits, showing what they already know before diving deeper in the coming weeks. Geography brought out their creativity as they designed their own islands and plotted precise coordinates using OS symbols. The week ended with plenty of excitement as everyone cast their votes to name the new school guinea pigs… Go Albert and Einstein!
