Year One and Two Highlights
Back
Year 1 have had a fun and engaging week. In Art, they completed their hot task by creating beautiful watercolour flowers. For English, they wrote informative leaflets about TLAP as their cold task. In Maths, they started a new topic on counting in 2s, 5s, and 10s. They also handed in their homework, which included some fantastic beanstalk models. Many of the beanstalks they planted in Science have grown very tall! In History, they explored a variety of Caribbean spices and learned about colourful Caribbean carni-val outfits, enjoying some delicious smells and vibrant culture.
Each of the classes in Year 2 is named after an explorer. Last week it was Nabongo class’s birthday and Year 2 celebrated Jessica Nabongo’s 41st birthday by finding out about Senegal, the 41st country that she visited on her travels around the entire world. They located the country on a map of Africa, researched its flag and found out facts about it – the most exciting one being that it has a pink lake! They then created fact files to demonstrate what they had learnt.
