Year 5 & 6: A Week of Discovery and Determination!
Back
This week in Year 5, we have been reading Robot Girl by Malorie Blackman and using our reading skills to retrieve and record information from the text. In writing, we created diary entries and persuasive pieces inspired by our exciting 100 Objects Day, describing and reflecting on the fascinating items we explored. In Maths, we have been working hard to solve balancing calculations and find missing numbers, developing our understanding of patterns in numbers. During Science, we began learning about Isaac Newton and how his discoveries helped us understand gravity. It has been a busy and creative week full of curiosity, problem-solving, and great discussions!
This week, Year 6 have been busy preparing for their SATs with a mix of fun and learning! In English, the children explored The Hobbit through riddles — solving tricky ones and even coding their own creative versions. In Maths, they began a new topic on fractions. In History, we have learned about Henry VII and how he helped raise England’s economy after years of turmoil. To finish off the week, the pupils took part in Bikeability sessions, boosting their confidence and skills on two wheels. Well done, Year 6!
