Nursery & Reception: Melting Ice, Telling Stories and Growing Strong

This week in Nursery we have been practising our new vocabulary, using our listening ears and helping each other. We found rubber ducks stuck in the ice so we have been using different tools to break and melt ice. We have been practising our balancing and climbing to strengthen our muscles which will help us to write when we grow up. We are exploring big and small and talking about all of the different words we can use to describe these things.
This week in Talk for Writing, Reception began exploring the story Handa’s Surprise. The children orally retold the story using actions, which supported their understanding and inspired some to independently write words and phrases they recognised during free-flow activities. In Maths, we focused on exploring the numbers 6, 7 and 8 through a range of practical and engaging activities.
