Nursery & Reception: Sunflowers, Mermaids and Medical Marvels

This week in Nursery, the children have been working hard to learn their new story map, Sunflower Sisters. We have been using our voices, changing the tone and emphasis of different words to make the story exciting. We have also enjoyed getting messy with foam and painting lots of sunflowers for our sunflower wall.

This week in Reception we have started learning our new Talk for Writing story Julian is a Mermaid and the children have really enjoyed taking part in a range of activities linked to the story, showing wonderful enthusiasm and creativity. We also had a visit from a very special visitor – a nurse! The children learned all about how nurses help us, including how to wash our hands properly, apply bandages and even use some of the equipment found in hospitals. The children loved having the opportunity to see real medical equipment and they asked some fantastic questions. In Maths, we have been exploring odd and even numbers in a range of contexts. We have also continued practising for Sports Day, which everyone is very excited for. It has been another fantastic week, and we are so proud of the children’s enthusiasm and hard work.
