Year 5 & 6: Timetables, Time Zones and Team Spirit
Back
This week, Year 5 worked incredibly hard and demonstrated resilience throughout a range of learning activities and assessments. In Reading, the children explored vocabulary in different contexts and continued reading Chapter 3 of our class text. They developed their understanding of word meanings and discussed how authors use language to engage readers. In Writing, the children completed a cold task where they wrote a persuasive paragraph to sell a product. They used persuasive language and creative ideas to encourage their audience to buy their inventions. In Maths, the children focused on reading and interpreting timetables. They also completed PIXL Arithmetic and Reasoning assessments, showing determination and confidence as they applied their mathematical knowledge. Well done to everyone for their hard work, positive attitudes and excellent effort throughout the week.
This week, Year 6 watched an old Russian folk tale about a weary traveller and used it as inspiration to write and carefully edit their own diary entries for their Hot Write books. In PE, they have been busy developing their skills in preparation for the upcoming sports day. Meanwhile, in Geography, the class explored the Galápagos Islands and learned about time zones. We are excited and looking forward to all the learning still to come in the weeks ahead!
